Just a Spider Photography and Digital Camera

I was working on my computer last night and a spider dropped down in front of me.

After screaming like a little girl I dusted off my Nikon AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED N and took some shots. I lit it with an SB-600 from the left and an SB-700 directly underneath it. All fired via my pop-up flash on my D7000. Love CLS!

Changing color in textured blanket Photography and Digital Camera

Ok, Here's the deal. I found this adorable blanket that I want to use for a newborn shoot. The only problem, is we don't know what my friend is having. The blanket is purple (as you can see ;)) and as I was going to return it if she has a boy but the tag fell off. So I kinda have to keep it now. My question is, is there a way to change it's color to like a blue or maybe even gray if it's a boy? I've tried all sorts of things, color varations, replacing the color but I can't get it to look right. Also, how would I change the blanket color w/o changing the baby as well (here I put my son's dog on to try it out).. any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Used 40D vs New Rebel t3 Photography and Digital Camera

Hi everybody,
I've read the website and forums, but it's probably appropriate that my first post is asking advice on which camera to buy. My choices as I see them are my father in laws 40d, or a new rebel t3. I will be using the camera for work, forensic related. An example of the pictures I'll be take are of a car, showing indentations, scrapes, etc.
I will almost always be outside, in normal daytime conditions.
For cost, a new rebel is $500 with an 18 to 55, and the used 40d is $1000 new I think, and I'm not sure how much it's worth used.

I don't know that it is finished editing...then again I never feel like I've finished editing an image!

It is best viewed on a black background. So, you may have to see it in Flickr.

But, here it is. A somber mood. That's all I'll say.

So, I wonder what you all think of it? It is a new technique for me and my technique needs to be refined. I think I've captured the intent. a bit of loneliness, a bit of tension. I often like to create images that require a bit of time to digest. As far as the border and left side...quite frankly I've never tried this before. But, it would make a nice card with the appropriate poetry. Do you agree?

Clicked with a Canon EOS 1100d, 18-55mm Macro lens, f/5.0, Shutter speed of 0.4s .... Took a car moving on the opposite side of the road. Post production i did was decreasing thie white balance using the RGB Palette on the EOS Utility's Digital Photo Professional. :)

Crappy focus... why? Photography and Digital Camera

I took this pic at the weekend and I'm just really not happy with the way it looks - overall it just looks out of focus and a bit naff... I'm not just talking about the people but just the whole image seems soft.

I did shoot using the all points focussing option which I think was a big mistake, and have now switched on the red square on the LCD screen image so I can see if I've missed the intended focus spot... on this image it's on the guy in the grey top's hand.. however I would have still thought that at f/5.6 the DOF would have been deep enough to keep the people looking fairly sharp?

But then it's not just the people, the whole image just seems soft and crappy :mad:

I'm rubbish at group shots so can anyone give me advice on just what I did wrong? Or is it just the fact the focus point automatically selected was so wrong that it threw the whole image off?
