Contest Winners: "Landscapes - Nature Black and White" Photography and Digital Camera

Let me mention first of all that I love all my fellow dpsers (is that a word?) that chime in and answer questions and direct people to the rules. You make it so much easier!

There were a lot of images to go through this time and it was very hard to narrow it down. When there are this many, some of our favorites will not make it to the finals. If you have a favorite picture, be sure to give your fellow member a little "love" and leave a comment at their flickr or other site, or send them a pm here on dps.

First goes to The Great Salt Lake by Lostsoulstav:

"Sure, the sky is blown in the centre but it works in the context of this high contrast image from Lostsoulstav. It was just the right moment to take the photo because of the way the cloud (top left of centre and echoed bottom left) balances the silhouetted branch (bottom right of centre)."

And we have another three-way tie for second!

Trees at Twilight by debsij:

"Fog and soft focus give this shot some drama, makes you wonder what could wander out of that mist. A good example of how black and white can transform a photo into something different."

Tunnel of Trees by ebradrt:

" Ebradrt's is more enclosed that most of the landscape shots but I think it still qualifies, not least because the path draws you in and the overexposure of the trees on the horizon of visibility further emphasises the depth of the scene even though foreground foliage hides the sky."
"I feel like walking right into this shot. Little touch of fog, laciness of the trees, plus the texture of the road make this an appealing image."

House on Lake by nixm

"Beautiful curve that leads the viewer's eye around the image. Nice textures and contrast of the clouds to the sky. Little house gives a good point of interest."
